Why VCMO?
Finding the right senior marketer is hard
In theory, every company would have a CMO – or an experienced senior marketer. In practice, it can be tough for startups and younger companies to find a senior marketer with the right expertise, in the right location. And if you’re not ready for a full-time permanent employee, it’s even harder.
I give you flexibility and expertise
A senior level B2B tech marketer. Experienced virtual team member. No permanent commitment required – with flexibility to work the hours you need, on projects you prioritise.
Senior talent you can afford
Great companies want great people with the right expertise – but budget and location often make permanent hires tricky. Working with me on a fractional, project or part-time basis removes this barrier – no visas or employment contracts required.
A fresh perspective, informed by experience
Someone who’s not deeply embedded in how things work now is the best person to help you find a different approach. Drawing on my diverse work experiences gives you the opportunity to re-evaluate what you think is possible, and discover new ways to achieve your goals.
I’m virtual, but not impersonal
Not being in your office all the time does mean less chat at the coffee machine, but it doesn’t have to stop relationship-building. I’m accustomed to building great relationships virtually, but I’m always delighted to spend time with my clients face-to-face.
It’s efficient and impactful
Think about it – no need to arrange desk space, wifi passwords, printer access, building passes, or even a clean coffee mug! I’m accustomed to hitting the ground running, so once we agree an SOW, all you need to organise is yourself, your team, and an Internet connection, and we can make a flying start.

What people say about working with me
“Laura is one of those “always more than expected” assets to join your team. After working with her in the past, I recommended her to work on a project at my current company BOLD, handling product marketing for the UK. Over a year in as a consultant, we ended up using her to manage work in all the INTL geos supporting Product, SEO, and Content & Mtktg. A short term projected ended up being a multi-year engagement. Laura is excellent at putting priorities in order and communicating deliverables very clearly for all to understand. She has strong project mgmt skills, a diverse set of mktg skills, collaborates well as a teammate – with a wide range of people (designers, devs, product & mktg specialists) – and builds trust worthy relationships, while remote. Her contributions have gone very far. Thank you Laura and I’d love to have you on my team again!”
Molly O’Brien, VP International Product, BOLD
“Laura worked with us at Describe Data to guide us in our early marketing. As quite a technical team, we certainly needed and appreciated her help. She is patient and reliable, consistently asking the right questions. She was quick to understand the important aspects of the Insurance industry, and of InsurTech in particular. Laura’s experience enables her to navigate the challenges of positioning complex technical solutions comfortably and efficiently. Her manner is relaxed but well organised and she is a pleasure to work with.”
Gerard de Vere, Co-founder & COO, Describe Data
“Laura and I worked closely together for 14 months and she’s a very talented marketing director. Skilled at handling multiple inputs, lots of competing projects and activities and handling the fast-paced start-up environment with professionalism and pragmatism. Equally good at ‘hands-on doing’ as ‘bigger picture strategy and planning’ – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”
Andy Perrin, Product Marketing Consultant
